Custom map illustration for a book exploring the history of China’s culinary culture by award-winning author Fuchsia Dunlop.
The map was drawn in an old illustrative style, using the same primary typeface as the book. This involved working from several images, layering and tracing different maps that included different details such as bordering countries, districts, key sites, and the Great Wall, to create a fully bespoke map of the region.
