UN climate change reports
2019 & 2022, The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)
TYPESETTING & CHART DESIGN
The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change produce substantial reports assessing the state of climate change, its risks and future prospects every few years.
Soapbox hired me to work on two recent batches of reports: two special reports ahead of the December 2019 Climate Change Conference (COP 25), and the sixth assessment report in 2022, comprising three working group contributions and a synthesis report.
Each report totals upward of 1,000 pages. As the reports compile scientific, technical and socio-economic knowledge on the current state and future risks of climate change, they contain numerous equations, scientific units and large tables. An efficient typesetting process and clear communication with other team members was therefore necessary to ensure correct application of formatting such as subscript and superscript, all glyphs and units were appearing as they should, and editorial and design decisions were applied consistently throughout.
